Ćwiczenia - Future Simple vs. Future Continuous

will be raining- zawsze wydawało mi się OK a okazuje się inaczej..

@Stanislaus I'm not an expert, but:

Dad thinks it will rain today - range of time - Future Simple
Dad thinks it will be raining at noon - exact point in time - Future Continuous

Is there anyone who can explain to my why I can't say 'Dad thinks it WILL BE RAINING today' or 'The weather forecast says it WILL BE RAINING heavily this afternoon'. Why it's incorrect?
