"sierściuch" and "zaropialec" - in English?

I have to translate a text which uses the words "sierściuch" and "zaropialec" meaning old, filthy, stray dogs - would you have any ideas? i was thinking of "fleabag" but that's used for places, as far as I know... I'd be grateful for any help, asap.
