"Short history of nearly everything"

Nie mogę znaleźć w żadnym słowniku tłumaczenia słówka "ludicrously"..:(
Pochodzi ono z wyżej wymienionej książki , ze zdania:
"After another ludicrously brief interval it was joined by electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces - the stuff of physics."

Czy mógłby ktoś pomóc??

śmiesznie, absurdalnie, niedorzecznie

A takie zdanie : "Well, we are in the same position in space as our puzzled flatlander, only we are flummoxed by a higher dimension." ?
Chodzi o 2 słówka : "flatlander" i "flummoxed"..
muszę się nauczyć słownictwa z tej książki bo mam z tego test;/ nie dlatego, że pałam szczególną sympatią do fizyki:)

flatlander to taki ktos, kto zyje w dwuwymiarowym swiecie. Po polsku, heh, kiedyś czytałem jakiś artykuł, "płaszczak"?
flummoxed = bewildered

Flatlander also describes someone who lives at low altitudes and/or flat terrain (i.e. not in the mountains); it is used especially by the highlanders (those who DO live in the mountains).
