Polish Food is diverse and delicious. It is made with almost all of the four basic food groups in mind, with a little something from each in every dish. Polish food ranges from kielbasa, which is a type of sausage, to Golabki, or cabbage rolls, hunter's stew to stuffed eggs, and from dumpling soup to mushrooms in sour cream. There is also more US known meals such as food as simple as spring salad, or beans and carrots, Polish style. Another tasty meal is sweet pierogil. There are also many other dishes containing meat and many other dishes containing fish. There are also many desserts like poppy seed cake, crullers, royal mazurek, a dish much like a cherry pie, saffron babas, and buckwheat and raisin pudding. Poland also has seasonal dishes like Christmas Borcsch with Pierogil, which is served not only at Christmas but Easter, too.
Many foods different foods come from Poland. They range in diversity from barley and wheat to fish and hogs. North of Poland in the Baltic Sea many types of fish can be found such as carp and herring. In northwest Poland on the Northern European Plain hogs are raised and potatoes grown. Northeast Poland, also on the Northern European Plain is home to many hog farms. Slightly higher in elevation, in more the central part of Poland, rye and barley are grown as well as hogs raised. In this same elevation in the western part of Poland, potatoes and sugar beets are grown. Also in this elevation in the eastern third of Poland tye is grown. At a slightly higher elevation in southern Poland corn, wheat, and potatoes are grown. Slightly higher in elevation, along the Vistula River, corn, wheat, and potatoes are grown. In the Sudete Mountains of southwestern Poland cattle and sheep are raised.
