Use of the word "away"

An earlier post contained the words "play away", which got me thinking of instances that combine a verb with "away" to imply encouragement or approval.

Here are a few examples:

"swing away" encourages somebody to swing the baseball bat .

-Should we start drinking? Yes, drink away!
-The music is starting, so dance away!
-Can I ask one last question? Ask away!

Of course, sometimes it refers to the literal movement "away" from something.

-Drive away.
-Wash away the stains.
and sometimes is it used disapprovingly as in 'explain sth away'
One more encouraging verb with 'away' :)

Can I say something? Fire away!
take it away

1. you're about to sing on stage, someone introduces you to the audience and says "take it away"
2. you have an old car you no longer want. Someone offers to take it, you say “take it away”
3. also means to arrest – he committed a crime, the cops took him away
fade away,
for example :some colours are fading away
