Talking of honesty we usually mean the quality of people who always tell
the truth and never lie.This character trait is reserved for those who know
what the power of lies is and how even a white lie can change our life into
nightmare.
In my opinion honesty is a merit of God because in today's world we have to
come face to face with a multitude of problems, starting with personal and
ending with the ones present in other spheres of life, such as work. Being
honest may not seem to be a perfect solution in terms of results and easy
profits, but it is certainly a healthy symptom of human nature.
However, not telling the truth may become the only way to survive in an
overwhelming reality of living in the 21st century.
Anyway, there are situations when honesty is worth the candle. Let us
imagine a situation when you are walking down the street and you find a
wallet full of money.
There are also documents, so you know who the owner of the wallet is. What
should you do? Would you go to the police with the wallet or would you take
the money? It is the moral problem of the finder. If he were a good man he
should give the wallet back. But the finder had just lost his job and the
money might help him to survive the next month and feed his family, what is
the best solution then? Of course taking the money. But the finder is an
honest person who knows the money belongs not to him, so he gives the
wallet back to the owner.Then, there is a big amount of money as a reward.
Morever, the owner is so happy to get his wallet back, his wallet full of
crucial adresses and telephones that he gives the finder a job at his
company. Since then he does not have to worry about the future of his
family. I think it is a very good example of how honesty and good will may
influence our life very positively.
Honesty is the best policy in situation when two people who do not love
each other any longer should talk about this and tell the truth in order to
avoid troubles and clear up the misunderstandings. Or a couple of friends
who have had a quarrel should be honest because friendship is based on
truth and honesty. As well as the relationship between a mother and a
daughter or a father and a son. If they were in good terms with each other,
the parents would not have any problems with the children's upbringing.
That is why I think that the most important issue in relations between
people is being honest and telling the whole truth regardless of
circumstances. I believe that even when somebody is dying and lying on a
deathbed, the doctors and the closest family should tell the truth to the
dying.
In conclusion, I am absolutely sure that honesty is a virtue of good
people. And if every man on the world was a honest person, there would not
be so many crimes and injustice.
Everything is possible if there is just a little bit good will. If people
learn how to talk to one another the world will be more colourful and
happier.
