Few months ago I went to Wrocław National Museum with friends to see exhibition about German
painting(tutaj chodziło mi o malarstwo) from classicism to secession. WNM has one of the biggest collections in Poland, so I was very excited to finally be able to see it.
The museum didn't disappoint me in the slightest.
The exhibition covered styles like classicism, romantism, biedemeier, historism, realism (my personal favourite) and symbolism. Somebody had a great idea
as how to organize paintings. They were arranged chronologically and every one of them was in
it's respective style category, which made it really easy to see differences between each group. One could compare how artist's interests and methods
have been changing in time. There was one painting that caught my eye - "Adoption", by Ferdinand Waldmuller. At first sight it looks just like a pretty but plain conversation piece. When you know the title, though, you realise what's really happening there. Poor mother gives her son up so that he can have a better life with new, rich family.
We could also admire "Evening" - one and only painting of Wassily Kandinsky which is in Poland.
Since I went with friends I guess, I'd have a great time anyhow, but I have to admit, I really liked how the museum staff wanted everyone to be comfortable. There were people who answered questions in every room. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice, so the atmosphere was just amazing.
I've been to many exhibitions in my life, because I'm really into art. Some were better, some worse. This one though must have been the best one I've participated in. WNM gave a great example to follow for other cultural institutions in terms of everything: organization, content and atmosphere.
Z góry dziękuję i pozdrawiam! ;)
