REPORT ON CHARITY WORK BY YOUNG OFFENDERS
Introduction
The aims of this report are:
1) to show positive effect that charity work can invoke
2) to comment on young criminals' commitment
3) to help people change their life and give a second chance
This report is based on research group members' observation during the happening and interviwed with participants.
Methods of fundrising
Young offenders were asked to raise money for the charity as part of their community service. They decided to act by doing the following steps:
- to organise jumble sale
- to persuade passers-by to give some money to collection boxes
- to auction items which charity got from benefactors
Results
During severals days of raising money the final outcome was satisfying. Not only $300 was raised but also the young offenders did something positive. Some of them had picked up litter before and they say that work for helping others is far more rewarding.
Conclusion
To summarise, it is worth organising such events because they provide important life skills:
- teach how to be part of society
- encourage young offenders to change their life
Moreover, the funds that were raised help people in need.
