Around 300 people were evacuated from Cornerhouse Cinema located on Oxford Street, Manchester, on Saturday September 14th after someone threatened to blow up the building.
The alert was caused when a person called to police and said that a bomb had been hidden in Cornerhouse Cinema and was due to go off in an hour.
Investigators and police bomb dogs searched the building finding a suspicious package in a waste bin. Bomb disposal experts were called in immediately and they confirmed that it was not a bomb. The experts would not comment on what type of package was found.
The building normal operation reasumed after the evacuation ended.
This incident was the second security scare in Manchester during last week. "On Wednesday was second anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks", said police detective Robert Thomson. "We are hoped that was the last incident"
