It has been a disappointing year for Smithson and our FORECAST for the next six months is that things will get even worse.
In the UK, Smithson made a loss of 10 milion on INVESTMENT of 1 biilion and because of continuing RECESSION in the Asian economy and slow economic growth in Europe, profits from abroad, where Smithson has most of its acrivities, have also continued to fall.
Reflecting this performance, which was much worse than expected, the SHARE PRICE fell 30 percent to 16 percent on the London STOCK MARKET
Of course, there is no question of REVENUES this year and shareholders are becoming angry. Smithson plans to reduce its DIVIDEND in plant and equipment over the coming two years as part of its effort to retrun to profitability.
If things go on as they are, there is a real risk that Smithson will face bankruptcy before long.
