You should remember that the Present Perfect is quite a "flatulent” way of writing if used ‘fanatically” and more delectable when not overly ‘abused’. Especially when it’s not an ongoing action any longer but you need to somewhat forcefully imply your reader that it is „no laughing matter.”:)
On the other hand,it would certainly be more adequate to emphasize a recent event in some cases but not in the said sentence I guess.(you know that they know that you know that yadda, yadda, yadda, full stop.)
