Witam,

Race to save world's only women's language

Experts have called (0) FOR efforts to save a language used only
(1) BY women of an ethnic group in central China's Hunan Province. The
language, used among women of the Yao ethnic group in Hunan Province,
(2) IS believed to be the world's only women's language.

Some experts believe (3) THAT the language is related to inscriptions of
animal bones from more (5) THAN 3000 years ago, but no conclusions have
(6) BEEN reached on when the language originated.

The Central-South China Institute of Nationalities in Hubei Province began
(7) TO STUDY the language in 1983. So (8) FAR , about 2000 characters have been identified.

However, as the small number of women (9) THAT use the language die off, it draws closer (10) TO extinction. Yang Huanyi, 93, and He Yanxin, in
her sixties, (11) WERE among the few women who (12) COULD read and
write the language. (13) IT is believed that the language was handed
(14) OVER from mother to daughters. For unknown reasons, men seem
(15) NOT to have been interested in learning it.
Wielkie dzięki "dobry człowieku" za sprawdzenie. Mam tylko jedno pytanie - czy jednak mimo wszystko w 14-tce nie powinno być "hand down"?

Tak się zastanawiam, bo:
"hand over" znaczy oddać, dostarczać, przenieść coś na kogoś, natomiast
"hand down" używa się w znaczeniu przekazać potomności, ogłosić.
w (7) STUDYING bo z tego co widze, to mozna chyba jedno slowo wpisac? to jest FCE Cloze Test prawda?

dalej...

w (11) ARE a w (12) STILL - tak mysle, bo z kontekstu wynika ze one wlasnie sa jednymy z ostatnich uzytkownikow tego jezyka. Pozdrawiam.
Ja tak samo myśle

Bardzo Wam dziękuję za odpowiedź.

W 7 zrobiłam błąd przy przepisywaniu i chyba jednak powinno być "The Central-south China Institute for Nationalities in Hubei Province BEGAN(7).....to..... STUDY the language in 1983". Sorry za wcześniejszy błąd.
