Szkoda

Witam,
jeśli liczyliśmy na to, że coś się stanie, albo ktoś miał do nas przyjechać ale informuje nas, że coś mu wypadło, jak powiedzieć 'szkoda' - 'what a pity'? 'what a shame'? 'shame, I really thought/hoped you would come'?

tak, tylko 'what shame' (bez 'a')

Samo shame jakos nie pasuje w tym dialogu, imo. Moze w BrE jest ok.

"What a shame" works fine (with the 'a', not without) as do all the other examples.

I don't get it - why ever did terri advise not to use an indefinite article there :?
