In some contexts, it's more natural to say:
I'm glad you came along.
or
One of us will revert back in due course.
Wheres in others, it's merely an add-on:
I'm glad you came (along) with me.
or
One of us will revert (back) to the topic in due course.
In the above examples, 'came' and 'revert' on their own would seem somewhat 'orphaned'.
