The first Americans came from Asia. They crossed the Bering Strait which was covered by ice. These people created American Indian tribes.
Bjarni Herjolfsson was the first European who saw America. When he was sailing from Norway to Greenland he saw land with many trees.
The first white people who stood on America were Vikings. Leif Eriksson with his crew probably arrived to New Foundland. One of legend say that Leif's soldier called Tyrkir got lost. Vikings started to look for his friend. Leif found him. Tyrkir was siting in a place in which grew up grapevines and he was eating a lot of grapes. Of that event Vikings called this land Vinalnd.
Next white people who arrived to America was Columbus. In the morning 12 October 1492 they saw land. It was Guanahani. Columbus called this place San Salvador. Columbus thought that he arrived at India. Because of that Columbus people who he saw called Indians.
Columbus perforemed four expedition to New Land. In every expedition he destroyed native American culture. When Columbus died in 1506 he thought that he arrived at India. They didn't know that he discovered New Land which we are calling now America.
