You took the words right out of my mouth. In fact, I wrote something similar a week ago or so under one of the pathetic whinging “themes” where some half-wits, who think that translating English songs is the only way to learn this language, keep threatening that they are going to kill themselves over the closing down of the lyrics web page. The exact “translation” above just proves how idiotic the whole idea of lyrics translation is (no offence Cassie) for learning purposes (as stressed here: for learning purposes). One should first learn the language and then embark on song translation. How on Earth, one expects to learn a foreign language by translating songs that in English do not make any sense what so ever, never mind in Polish. Mind you, on the other hand there is no harm done if one tries to grasp the meaning of a fragment of a song or poem they do not quite understand, when they get the feel for the whole song but one small bit. I think this is what Cassie was doing.
However, as I already wrote, learning a foreign language by translating songs is pointless. For example, I would like to see how successful an Englishman would be if he tried to order a cup of coffee in one of Warsaw’s cafes after learning Polish by translating Polish songs.
