Actually, unless you're in some extremely fancy restaurant or a French restaurant (which, incidentally, more often than not is very fancy), you will not hear "bon apetit" but "enjoy your meal/breakfast/lunch/dinner" 99% of the time.
That's the situation in the U.S.; not sure about the U.K.
