Healthy food and lifestyle

Is "healthy food" just a temporary fashion of ours? What do you think about it? Do you prefer to eat in McDonald's or in a posh restaurant. Why more and more people turns to healthy lifestyle? What do you think about those people who spend all their days in front of computerand do nothing to keep fit. Are you one of them?
First, what do you mean by "healthy food"? There are so many diets, and none of them is considered to be 100% healthy. I personally have no time to select proper meals containing nutrition/vitamins/fibre etc, but if I had more time, I would do this:p

I usually eat neither in McDonald's nor in posh restaurants; I prefer meals prepared at home, especially rice and spicy sauce, which is by the way the only meal I am able to prepare by myself:)

Why do people turn to "healthy diets"? Probably it's a result of mass media, you can observe on TV so many "healthy" people eating "healthy" food, that it's beginning to catch on. People, especially teenagers look at such muscular, suntanned and just fit "idols" and want to become alike, it's normal. But as i said earlier, I believe it's just another trend and it could be easily replaced with some other trend.
well, i've just catched myself falling into doing nothing. every day i sit in front of my computer or telly eating sandwiches, chips and drinking beer... so i decided to do anything just to keep fit. first thing i did was dusting my bike but also i decided to exercise every day (i found some special exercises for butts;))
and that is not because of mass media or sth like that - i just feel much better when i spend my time doing something more useful for me than for example watching tv. for me it follows from the need, not from the fashion. and what's more - healthy lifestyle arouses positive thinking :)
I love riding a bike - especially in the countryside:)
Well, in my opinion eating "fast food" is very dangerous for our life and health....Most people more prefer this sort of food because they don't have much time for prepare cake or soup:) . I think also that people more prefer eating in for example McDonald's, because it is much cheaper than elegance restaurant. And this is all of my conclusion about this post.

By the way, sory if I make mistakes. Actually me english isn't very good, and to changed this situation I decided to surf the Internet:)
Hello, hello I'm 27 years old girl and i'm fascinating in proper good lifestyle I mean food, sport etc. I just hate MCdonald's junk food I must to confess that I even never taste this. I only go there for the good coffee, but always take it outside to not feel this specific smell. I love many forms of sport I try to jogging 4 times or even 6 times per week i'm really good in it, try to not overeat and choose the right kind of food. But I'm aware of limit to keep fit and remember to rest sometimes , to eat sth very not healthy but very tasty to make some kind of balance in my life. It's not a tragedy when U have a will to feel relaxing and feel sweet lazyness. Sorry for my language but is still not good . IF u WANT TELL ME SOME MORE IN THESE THINGS HERE IT'S MY E-MAIL [email] I LOOK FORWARD TO HEAR FROM U
Hi

Basically I can agree with things you've said here. There are definitely numerous concepts what a healthy, well- balanced diet is, but there are certain characteristics that can be mentioned. FIsrt of all, the specifics of any healthy diet should be such, that we provide the organism with all the necessary nutrients, such as fibre, proteins, carbs, fats, aminoacids, minerals and vitamins.
NOwadays a lot of people claim that they follow a deit low in carbs. However, there is a substantial difference between the right ones (that can be found in vegies, fruit, wholemeal pasta, bread, etc) and simple sugars that is candies. Therefore, people who won't eat cherries as they contain carbs do the wrong thing. Generally carbohydrates are indispensible, as they are a source of energy, as cells need glucose to transofrom it to energy.

Another myth is that all fat is evil. It is recommended tho to avoid animal fat and rather favor veggie ones, such as olive oil or flax seed. (The obvious conclusion is that vegetarian diet does wonders for you;)

As far as my lifestyle is concerned, I do commit little sins, as i frequently can't resist the temptation to devour potato chips, but generally i avoid fast food and I've been vegetarian for a couple of years now. I['d like to become vegan, that is resign fully form all animal products, such as dairy, but still find goat cheese or bryndza too entincing from time to time;)

As for other practices, I try to pracice sport on a regular basis, I play tennis, go jogging and swim in the sea, but recently i've been a lil bit lazy, which immediately affects my emotional balance. So my point is that not only does physical exercise affect your body condition, but contributes significantly to mental comfort and well-being.

I too only visit Mc'Donalds for their coffee. Don't know what they put in it - (which is worrying), but it is the best tasting coffee anywhere.
As Kociaramma said above, there are pluses and minuses in any diets or lifestyles. There is a saying 'a little of what you fancy does you good'. There is no point in following a sensible eating plan when it's washed down with litres of beer or other alcohol. Then again, if you've never experienced being drunk, the you don't know what a real hangover is.
I agree that experts tell us we should excercise and eat sensibly, but if we followed their advice on all things there would be very little left in life. Life is for living. Even Big Macs taste good if eaten once a year.
Well, actually Mcshit is out of the question to mind mind. Have you by any chance seen the documantary illustrating the experiment with food from McDOnalds? Its title's escaped me just now. Oh, yeah., Supersize me. If you haven't I strongly reccomend watching the thing as it helps shunning the place efficiently.

To Kociamama. (sorry my misspelling above)
Yes, McShit (very apt term) is out for me too. Every time I had the misfortune of eating there I was sick. Everything went through the system like grease lightning. I've seen SuperSize Me - there is a clear link between McDo food and obesity, lack of libido, bad memory, bad skin etc etc.
I believe that McDo had clever marketing strategies - it was NEVER their intention to provide 'good' fast food. They were selling an image of an ersatz community. They have brainwashed people into thinking that buying McDo you are part of a worldwide 'community' of people doing the same. Some people are easily impressed. Not me and you (I hope). 'i'm loving it' - I don't think so.
Yeah, let's say that there is such a thing like a trend for a healthy lifestyle, people want to look like their TV idols n' when this trend will end, they will also give up their temporary attitude. There's so much information about healthy lifestyles in the massmedia that it's really hard to choose the "ultimate" diet, so I decided not to follow any of them, but just to find out something about it, some tips, advices on healthy eating and feel comfortable in what I eat, just obey a few rules, like eating more fishes, cottage, fruit n vegetables instead of fat cheese n sweets (that's all in brief). And I don't thing I will give it all up when the trend'll be over. I do it, cause I want to be healthy - simply. It doesn't matter for me if it's up to date or not. Another important thing is to keep fit during the whole year, not just in summer. So I train almost every day 4 about an hour - is it to much? I don't think so - I sacrifice the rest of my time for increasing my brain potential (and some entertainment of course), so I think an hour for my body isn't a wasting of time:)
Do I eat in McD? Only when I don't have time for anything else and I can't eat at home....and it's not that expensive...
And the people who doesn't do any phisical activity...I think, they do harm to theirselves. They will regret those wasted years when they'll be old. Of course some people may not have time for it, cause they have to earn money and work all day, so don't think that I disrespect those people just because of their bad fitness. I understand the situation in Poland and I understant that a healthy lifestyle is quite expensive...
I already have a problem - my 'idols' are all dead.
McD is expensive - especially in Poland - I can get a wholesome meal (soup, meat, veg) for 15-20PLN - what do you get in Macs for that?
There is NO guarantee that even after devoting your time to exercising and healthy eating you will live longer.
There are some possibilities to eat cheaper than in McD (especially when you buy a cola and a plastic toy alltogether:)), but for example mcroyal costs right now 4 PLN and contains about 500 kcal:) Nevermind, it isn't the point.
Allright - you will never have a certainty of a long life. It doesn't matter what way of achieving this aim will you choose, but you can avoid many illnesses just because you will do some excercises regullary.
well, I guess there is a correlation between the quality of your lifestyle and its length.
If you're a habitual cig smoker you're much more likely to develop morbid diseases. If you pracice some sport regularly you're pressure is lower and your heartbeat is slower, and according to the scientific research the lower the pressure and the slower the heartrate the bigger the chances are to achieve longevity. If your diet is balanced and you're not overweight, again your prospects of living to be 100 are more optimistic, etc.

Naturally, there;s no guarantee that you can secure yourself a long and healthy life, as there are always dangers of falling vicitm to a terrorist attack, or assault in the street, bu still, I do believe we have influence on our life and we can steer it up to a certain degree, by means of lifestyle and diet.

>Is "healthy food" just a temporary fashion of ours?
I suppose that in many cases "healthy food" is treat as a fashion and unfortunately this way of nutrition will go out of fashion soon.
>Do you prefer to eat in McDonald's or in a posh restaurant.
More often than not I eat meals prepare by me or my girlfirend in home. if I'm out I eat in vegetarian or milky bars.
>Why more and more people turns to healthy lifestyle?
>As I wrote I think it's mainly another fashion
>What do you think about those people who spend all their days in front of computerand do
>nothing to keep fit. Are you one of them?
What can I think about these people? They simply waste their time and destroy their health. They become obese people with poor eyesight. I try to keep my fit regulary. I ride bike and make some exercises.
fuck ya
I used to pay a lot of attention to what and how much I eat,at the beginning I gave up sweets, then bit by bit I was ruling out meat, diary product etc., I was counting calories and sparing much time to doing some excercises.I had a bee in my bonnet about that. Now I eat what I want, when I want and how much I want, doesn't matter if it's healthy and low-calorie or not and I am much more happier.I get the impression that this trend towards healthy lifestyle and being fit is doing us only harm
I fuck healthy diet and healthy lifestyle and I love Fast Food's :p

Hi all.

I try to read this forum to keep in touch with the Polish mentality, since my kids are 50 % polish, although only one is "made in poland" LOL

I think the clue is to put yourself in a position so you never have to loose weight. This sound strange, but if you eat "normal" food vegetabels, fish, meat etc. I also think McShit is a spot on describtion, and yes i have seen supersize me.

I personally only train once a week, but i play a lot with my kids and generally use my body.

We probobly have a slightly different diet in Norway than in poland. And please don shoot me if i say some wrong things.

My mother in law will if she is making herself some soup, you know from the little cubes, spoon out the little drops of fat that appears on the surface. On the other hand she will gladly eat lots of "smalec" (sorry for wrong spelling).
It is also of little use that porkmeat is generally low in fat if you cover in breadcrums and fry in lots of fat, until the whole thing is dripping with fat.

We dont really eat a miracle diet in our house just slighly less fat and lots of wegetables(steamed not fried). We dont eat a lot of sweets, the kids only gets sweet on saturdays, but then they can eat as much as they want. My daughter(5) often starts before she gets out of bed. She gets up gets some sweets and get into our bed and lies and watch tv while eating.

Neigther me, my wife or our kids are fat or have lovehandles. LOL
But I have to say that i do think that some people have easier to put on weight than others, I must be "other" since i often drink beer (light) and wine to the food.

But in the end it is all, mathematics:

Energy inntake - engergy used= sureplus(weight gain)
