I'm an American. For the most part, there are the same number of groomsmen as there are bridesmaids. I too find it interesting that there were more men than ladies in the other account on this page. Girls can spend thousands of dollars on the dress alone. Or they can find a dress in the hundreds. Traditionally there's a ring bearer (a little boy), a flower girl, candle lighters, ushers, bridemaids, groomsmen, maid (not married) or matron (married) of honor, best man... Other things that can be found is a runner that goes down the isle for the bride to walk on. when they leave many things can be thrown or set free as the couple make their exit to the get-away vehicle. Some people have balloons, I've been to a night wedding where they used sparklers, some people set butterflies free, the tradition is to throw rice, but that is discouraged because it can kill birds if they eat it.. so some people throw bird seed. some blow bubbles... anything really.. Also, another tradition is to save the top layer of cake for the couples one year anniversary. They put it in the freezer for a year and then pull it out for their anniversary.
well, there's ton more but those are the biggest
