Personally I am deeply convinced that a future priest should be taught in the seminary. This spiritual education is called now a Bachelor’s degree. The seminary gives to a young person not only a necessary knowledge. That way of life he lives in the seminary for 4 or more years gives him an opportunity to immerse himself to a life of the Church to the most, to test himself in a large Christian community, to get a training that is needed to future service as a clergyman or a priest, to become a bearer and a follower of the Church tradition. Daily prayers, a regular participation in a mass, obedience, pilgrimages, cultural and missionary practise, shared meals and dormitories- all these and much more the seminary life presents it is not just a supplement but show the meaning of all educational process. It is impossible to become a good priest if a student has not been learnt how to live according to the Gospel, does not know himself, does not repent for his sins, does not know what the power and grace of humility are or has not learnt the ascetic experience of the Church on the example of those, who have attained deification.
It is not a secret, that thanks to the special structure of seminary, a student can test himself first and then realize that it is not the way he wants to live. When a lack of calling is noticed by the direction of this educational institution, they can decide about termination from being a student. Even the best university is not able to give a man what he gets in the seminary.
