New York
Place filled with inspirations
We walked throughout the streets of New York listening to the tales of our friend's family we had just met.
My friends Tom and I had been dreaming about the trip to the USA for approximately four years. When we had saved enough money to travel we set off for our destination. First position on our list of worth visiting places was New York.
We did not have the list of strictly defined destinations and in addition we got lost. We were staring at the huge skyscrapers, not knowing where we are when suddenly we heard the sound of the afro-american song which we knew very well.
We went to the store where the music was being played and met the seventeen years old son of the shop owner. We talked with him and he promised to show us around the city and tell an interesting story.
After the closing the store and walking around the streets of New York the members of his family told us the story of the origin of the family and the last known ancestor of the family who arrived there from Africa.
We found out a lots about the music, literature, cinema, habits and origin of afro-american people. Rashid's grandparents told us about how black people lived having to deal with racism and discrimination. We heard a lot of tales about the friendship of people of the different races and also the interracial violence.
Although we had not the money to hire a guide, I am sure that no one could have made our trip so interesting and exciting.
