Summary of Stephen Rabley's "Tinkers Island"

Action is starting in November 1798, at London. Jenny and Sam Tinkers are working in market. One day Sam gets mistaken for a thief and he's arrested. He gets with other prisoners on the ship sailing t Australia.Jenny has no family except Sam, so she's going to get a job on a Black Star. Girl works very hard for six weeeks as a cook assistant. One night she goes to captain's room and she finds keys which are usually near to the bed, on the table. Jenny goes to the bottom of ship and frees her father. They get on a small boat and escape from Black Star. After three days they're very hungry and thirsty, two days after that Jenny sees a bird, and says to Sam that there can be an island. Sam stands up and sees an island. When they get to it, they find a river with cold, clear water and coconuts to eat. In four days they finish making house with grass and wood. They're very happy for first year, but tragedy happens. When Sam is looking for coconuts he doesn't see snake on the ground and it bites him. Later Jenny finds him on the ground, he sleeps for three days. After ten days he gets back to health. One morning Jenny sees a ship, when Sam see it they run for it and hide. Few minutes later three men find them. Sailors propose them to go to America on their ship Red Rose. They agree and next day they're sailing to America.
