how to translate it

I would like to ask how to translate this expression: "He wore glasses with sidelights." What kind of glasses are they? I found in a dictionary that "sidelights" mean "boczne szybki..."and I don't understand....

Please do help me....

I suppose this is some special kind of glasses, probably not available in Poland but in the UK or the USA, and thus we may not have any idea what they may look like. But i can be wrong ;).

Sidelights, however, are not "boczna szybka" but they're a kind of lights in a car, just beside the main lights. Which makes no sense when joined to 'glasses'.

Zdaje sie, ze chodzi wlasnie o ciemne okulary z bocznymi szybkami (oslaniajacymi oczy od swiatla wpadajacego z boku i od refleksow po wewnetrznej stronie szkielek). Widzialem takie, choc dzis raczej spotyka sie mocno giete szkielka pojedyncze.

mozna tez kombinowac w kierunku - okulary z antyrefleksem (czy jak sie to nazywa), albo tez takie podwojne, podnoszone do gory, tak ze jedne sa normalne, a drugie przeciwsloneczne. ale to tylko moje gdybania i pomysly, wiec prosze sie za bardzo nie sugerowac :]

a czy nie chodzi czasem o "wraparounds"? a type of sunglasses curved in such a way that they fit close to your face, from one ear to the other.

I think I agree with you. In the architectiural glass and window industry, sidelights are the just that, a window panel on each side of a central window, or on both sides of a door. However, I'm not sure this term properly applies to eyewear (unless it's marketing speak), since industrial safet glass manufacturers refer to them as "side shields". http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/11434.html

okulary z okienkami peryferyjnymi? ..bocznymi? W przypadku okularow ochronnych moze 'okulary z oslonami bocznymi' (glasses with sideshields). Niezle brzmi chyba 'okulary z bocznymi visorami', ale tu nie jestem pewien czy slowo 'visor' wystepuje w jez. polskim. Wydaje mi sie, ze gdzies slyszalem (e-DICT by to potwierdzal).
