. One of the most interesting figures of the drama is representative of contemporary youth – Dulska’s son- Zbyszko. We meet him as a rake, using the pleasures of life, but also engaged in the intellectual and cultural life of presented epoch. He can critically look at the reality, and the relations that prevail in his home. So far,he did not allowed the holy hypocrisy to appease him , like his father did. He is not submissive – like Mel, one of his sisters, or he is not involved in shallow bourgeois life like Hesia who only mimics their mother. Zbyszko wants to live life full of honesty and to fight against hypocrisy.

The title character is hypocritical and two-faced, cares only about public opinion abt her family. So she dons a mask, under whichshe tries to hide her based on lies and hypocrisy morality. She lives just for show. The most important for her is to keep pretenses. .In front of people she pretends to be a completely different person that she actually is. She poses for a decent bourgeois and for an exemplary wife and mother.Mrs Dulska wants to avoid a scandal at all costs. .
She tolerates her son’s affair with Hanka because she believes that it is the only way to protect her son from all the danger that lie in wait for him.

Zbyszko resists his mother’s pseudo-morality works very noble, but impulsively, He will not be able to persevere alone in opposition to the false world, from which he is derived. Symptoms of the rebellion are very childish and naïve. Moreover they are limited only to the outer layer - Zbyszko ignores older, does not care about the job, and only wonders what to do to upset his mother, blaming her for the entire system of relations in home.. Zbyszko actually rebels against his mother hypocrisy. He spends nights in cafe, his mother hands him a servant, to prevent his affairs outside the home or to avoid a scandal, he can spent large sums of money, and his mother payy off his debts. In fact, the young adventurer counts on his mother, which will cover up all son’s sins, because she is afraid of scandal. But come the moment when Zbyszko with full awareness, bitterness that he was born as dulski, that dulski’s blood flows in his veins
Perhaps it is in this part of the story - it's hard to change yourself if the world you grew up, if we all cherish such values, it is hard to be different, it is hard to be yourself, even in your own home, among loved ones who are becoming enemies. Although the rebellion of the young man without any support not gonna change anything. He cannot even affects his own life, unless he is ready to be an outcast of society. Zbyszko has a grudge against his mother, against all those similar to them people, but also against himself. Awarness of his own weakness, philistinism raises a rage. . His own defeat turned out to be more painful thanthe fact that he hurt the girl the sentient human being. Mother wins and it hurt his pride hardest.
