cholera, mam takie pytanko.. nie wiem czy zrozumiecie o co chodzi, ale niewazne, spróbujmy.
jesli chce powiedziec np. 100 kotów to bedzie: thousand cats. a jesli chce powiedziec [przypuścmy] 100 Vincentów Van Gogh\'ów? thousands of Vincent van gogh?
wiem, ze pytanie moze wydaje sie idiotyczne, ale jest mi potrzebne. ludzi prosze ktos wie ?????????????

ja tez nie jestem pewna ale wydaje mi sie ze w literaturze fachowej sa dwie opcje: a thousand of van Goghs = jako tysiace obrazów van G. (tak jak a thousand of Cezannes, a thousand of Monets), lub a thousand of van Gogh\'s. W obu przypadkach nie podaje sie jednak imienia.
No chyba ze to chodzi o klony ;-) ale literatury fachowej na temat klonów van Gogha to ja juz nie znam...

Dwie formy sa ok bo \"a hundred of Van Gogh\'s\" to w domysle \"a hundred pictures of Van Gogh\'s\" bo nikt nie bedzie powtarzal w kolko tego samego i wiadomego (pictures :)). Na egzaminie takie zdanie jest raczej niebezpieczne (tam lepiej bez domyslen) i otwarte na krytyke gramatyczna (jak widac tutaj), ale poza tym jest ok. Inne formy wyrazaja to samo troche inaczej i tez sa ok:
One hundred Van Goghs - sto Van Gogh\'ow
One hundred of Van Goghs - setka Van Gogh\'ow

Ale kolega pytał, jak powiedzieć \"sto Vincentów van Goghów\", tzn. osób (jak tu: i choćby przyszło tysiąc atletów). Nadal uważasz, że apostrof jest ok?

Kurcze, ja tego nie odebralam jako pytanie o osoby.... tylko jako wyrazenie kolokwialne... \'aaa jakies \'Picassy\'/\'van Goghi\' tam wisza\' = jakies, blizej nieokreslone, obrazy. Gdyby to bylo pytanie o osoby to kontekst musialby byc bardzo specyficzny (w jakiej sytuacji mozna zadac pytanie o stu van Goghów [osoby]?)

A ja zwróciłem uwagę na słówko \"idiotyczne\" w nagłówku - pytania o 100 obrazów nie można określić jako idiotyczne (pytania o 100 osób również nie - po prostu ciekawy problem).
Sorry, piszę skrótowo, bo robię kilka rzeczy naraz i wycieczki na forum co 15 minut są moim ulubioonym przerywnikiem.
