wire transfer = (theoretically) a paperless transaction between financial institutions, e.g. you can send money to someone with a wire transfer by going to your bank and requesting a wire transfer transaction. They debit your account by x amount of money (plus any fees they charge for this service = outgoing wire transfer fee) and \"wire\" it to the designated bank where the person to whom you\'re sending the money has an account. Then, that bank credits the account of that person by x amount of money (minus any fees they charge for this service = incoming transfer fee).

bank draft = automated transaction where a vendor draws x amount of money from your account (without you having to write them a check), e.g. you can set up a monthly phone service payment via bank draft. You provide your phone company (one time only to set up the service) with the required information (your name, your bank\'s name, routing number, account number, etc.) and they set up a monthly bank draft (to draw x amount of money from your account each month). Bank drafts can be one-time or recurring (i.e. monthly, annual, etc.)
