What do you know about Kuyavia-Pomerania Province? Perhaps most people would say that it is a central Poland province well known from Copernicus and Archer. Do these characteristics bring us closer to the Kuyavia-Pomerania? Definitely not!
Closer to the nature!
It is notewhorthy that our province has nine landscape parks! Each one of them has a peculiar, specific fauna and flora. What is more, Kuyavian-Pomeranian is located on the three most significant Polish rivers – Vistula, Brda and Notec. That is in our province where are the most delightful canoe routs with a total length of over 400km!
For those who prefer resting in the city we recommend Myślęcinek in Bydgoszcz. Myślęcinek is the largest urban park in Poland, located only three kilometers from city center! It is an ideal alternative for those who want to take a break from busy city life and spend some time in the breathtaking woodland. Myślęcinek also offers rich cultural and entertainment opportunities concerts, festivals or sporting events.
The amazing heritage
Undoubtedly, everyone has heard about Torun – medieval town with the greatest number of monuments in Poland which in 1997 was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We can admire there, among others, the Town Hall and ruins of the Teutonic castle. But the Kuyavian-Pomeranian has much more to offer for sightseeing lovers. Not looking far to the north of Toruń, we can find Chełmno – known as the city of lovers. Why lovers? Because in one of the historic churches, there are relics of Saint Valentine. Chelmno can also boast one of the longest defensive walls! Another marvelous monument of history in our province is Biskupin. It is the archeological open-air museum which presents the appearance of an Iron Age fortified settlement. This is a great alternative to a live history lesson. Next Biskupin, there is another tourist attraction. The Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum in Wenecja is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe. It is an unique place – for both technology lovers and ordinary visitors.
The cultural province
Our province is also famous for well-known cultural events. The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage is a festival dedicated to the creators of films and since 2010, the festival has taken place in the capital of kuyavia-pomerania province – Bydgoszcz. And other event is the International Light Festival 'Bella Skyway in Toruń. The Skyway is the using of architectural structures in Torun as elements of light installations. It gives a breathtaking effect!
