past forms - proszę o pomoc

Temat przeniesiony do archwium.
Bardzo proszę o sprawdzenie tych zdań:

1. We HAD BEEN DISCUSSING it almost for half an hour when Peter CAME and SAID that Jude HD ALREADY REFUSED to support our plan.
2. He COULDN'T believe it when I said I HAD LIVED in Poland for 20 years and HADN'T SEEN Warsaw by then.
3. I had no idea what Fiona HAD BEEN DOING since three o'clock.
4. I HAD BEEN KNITTING the pullover for a week when I DECIDED to change the pattern.
5. George HAD BEEN CARRYING the suitcase for a few minutes when he ASKED me to give him a hand.
6. My teacher WAS DISAPPOINTED when he LEARNED that I HAD BEEN DOING these exercises for 2 hours and had managed to do only 6 of them.
7. When I CAME home at seven I FOUND OUT that the children HAD BEEN PLAYING in the garden since 4 o'clock and that my wife HADN'T COME home form the office by then.
8. My wife asked me how long I HAD BEEN TRYING to change the bulb.
10. I LIVED in Lisbon for 10 years and then I moved to Porto.

16. Kate LOOKED very upset as she HAD FILED d her final exam.
17. I ENTERED the room, OPENED the window, LOOKED out of it and SAW your cat in the street.
18.The police HAD BEEN FOLLOWING him since the very moment they HAD STARTED to suspect him.

Mam tylko pytanie - dlaczego w zdaniu nr 10 powinno być "HAD lived"? Nie może zostać po prostu LIVED, jeśli te 2 czynności zostały wykonane po sobie? Myślałam, że tak jest dobrze, bo wystąpiło "THEN" w zdaniu...
10. I LIVED in Lisbon for 10 years and then I moved to Porto.

ponieważ mieszkałaś w Lizbonie przed tym jak przeprowadziłaś się do Porto
w 10 powinien byc simple past (I lived)
To zdanie wyraza zwykla liniowa narracje, punkt odniesienia to najpierw pobyt w Lizbonie, a potem w Parzyu.
Past Perfect mialby uzasadnienie, gdyby punktem odniesienia byl pobyt w Paryzu, np.
Before I moved to Paris, I had lived in Lisbon for 10 years.
